Magic For a Charity

Hollywood is the Entertainment Capital of the World, and when its big names come together, they can really make a difference. Back in October, I took part in a fundraiser event for Hilarity for Charity, Seth Rogen’s non-profit organization. Hilarity for Charity has a mission to fight Alzheimer’s by raising awareness and distributing funds for patient care. Seth is obviously passionate about the charity’s work, and it was amazing to see people like John Mayer, Nicole Byer, and Tony Hawk in attendance to support the cause.

The fundraiser was part carnival, part auction, and part comedy show, with the main event being a live performance by John Mayer. Opening for John Mayer was Netflix magician Justin Willman, and as a member of his team, I assisted with Justin’s show preparations. Both he and John put on incredible performances.

By the end of the evening, Hilarity for Charity raised over $860,000 in support of its care grant programs and awareness initiatives, an incredible sum. I’m truly blessed to be a member of this community. Not many people can say they’ve opened for John Mayer! It’s true that Hollywood can be hyper-competitive, but it’s people like Seth that show us the ways it gives back to the community.

As a magician, my job is to produce and deliver entertainment, but I’m always looking for ways that my work can benefit a cause. Check out Hilarity for Charity’s website here to see more of what they do!
